What is Speakasso?
Speakasso is a mobile word game with AI for Android. You look at a famous painting for a few seconds, describe it by voice or by typing without using the forbidden words, and an AI image generator draws a new picture from your description. An AI judge then scores from 0 to 100 how close your picture is to the original. You can play duels with friends or with players online, or practise on your own.
How is it different from charades or Pictionary?
In charades you explain to a person; in Speakasso you explain to an AI, and you see instantly what it understood. You don’t need to draw anything — the AI does the drawing. The skill is describing: what is in the picture, where it is, and which colours and light it has.
How is the score calculated?
Each round is worth up to 100 points: 50 for what is painted (the subject, its pose and the details), 20 for where things are (the layout and the setting), 20 for colour and light, and 10 for style and technique. Every forbidden word you say costs 15 points.
Which paintings are in the game?
About 300 public-domain masterpieces from museum collections — Van Gogh, Monet, Vermeer, Hokusai, Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and many more — plus memes and movie scenes redrawn by the studio. See the full list of paintings.
Is Speakasso free?
Yes, it’s free to play. Speakasso Plus is an optional subscription with a streak shield, a golden frame, exclusive avatars and duels without the daily limit. There are no ads.
When will Speakasso be on Google Play?
Soon. Speakasso is an Android app (Android 8.0 or newer) and is coming to Google Play. Leave your email on this page and we’ll write to you once, on launch day. There is no iPhone version yet.
Which languages can I play in?
You can describe paintings in English or Russian, by voice or by typing. The game’s interface is also in English and Russian.
Do I have to speak out loud?
No. You can switch to typing at any time — the rules and points are the same.
What happens to my voice?
Your rival never hears you — they only see the text of your description. The recording is turned into text and deleted from our server. Details are in the privacy policy.
Is it good for practising a language or learning about art?
It works well for both: to score high you have to describe what you see precisely, and after every round you see what the AI heard and where the points went. Along the way you get to know hundreds of famous paintings and their artists. Our guide to describing a painting shows the method.
What age is Speakasso for?
Speakasso is for players aged 13 and over. Some classic paintings show nudity or dramatic scenes, as they do in museums.
How do I delete my account?
In the game: Settings → Delete account. If you can’t open the game, see the account deletion page.
